Last week I hooked up with a friend who I haven't seen in about 7/8 years. Both of us were doing music back in the day and it turns out that we're still involved in music today.
We decided to collaborate on a few tracks and see where things went. So far things are sounding very Trip Hoppish' which is fine by me. Remember Portishead?
Anyways, here are some shots that were made during the session.
So here is the almost final result of my musical experiments lately. People have been curious so I figured it was about time to share.
Everything was made by myself and my brother (Sherwin). I created the drum breaks and the strange electronic synth type sounds while he took care of most of the keyboard parts that sound like traditional instruments and some of the basslines. The tools used were:
This collection of tunes is more on the Electro side of things. The tracks are all instrumentals right now. Part of me prefers them that way too (It reminds me of the beat tapes I used to make back in the day). It's rough and spontaneous at times but still cool to sit back, listen and lose yourself in the music.
In spite of this however I still think a singer would be able to to bring out something more. So, I'm going to go back to the lab and see how that mission pans out. See our "want ad" below.
In the meantime, take a listen and enjoy the tunes. They're all free right now so now's your chance to go WILD!
NOTE: I've posted the songs on www.imeem.com which is a great site but they're flash-based music player always seems to take a few seconds to fully load when it's embedded onto another site. My point if you don't see the player please wait a few seconds and it should show up. i know waiting sucks, but it i what it is for now at least.
Singer/ Songwriter Needed Please!
The LOV73 is looking for a lead vocalist to complete our sound! Our music can be described as trippy, sometimes dark with a major helping of Electro served with a hint of Alternative feel that's always drenched in rich succulent soul.
Pictrue a cross between Portishead, Morcheeba, Erykah Badu, Steve Spacek, Omar, Gnarles Barkley, J*Davey, The Eurythmics and Theivery Corporation. If you know these groups and like their music then it probably means that we can vibe together. Regardless here are more details in regards to what we are looking for:
* A female or male at least 18 years of age. (Self explanatory I hope).
* MUST be able to sing. This might seem like a no-brainer but it needs to be put out there. You don't need to be a superstar vocalist, we're looking for more of a "fit" rather than someone who can hit every note known to humanity. Please be able to carry a tune.
* MUST be able to write your own (ORIGINAL) lyrics. 99% of the time you will be provided with an instrumental track to write lyrics to.
* MUST be responsible! This means showing up on time, keeping appointments and being trustworthy. In other words we're looking for someone who understand what it is to be a true professional.
* MUST be comfortable in front of people. We will be doing shows and if you don't have a stage presence or get scared in front of an audience then this is just not going to work.
* NO EGO's PLEASE! We need someone who we can easily work with. Even though you will be the lead vocalist it will NOT be all about you. It WILL be about the group.
* MUST be available. We would get together at least once a week (sometimes more) to practice/record. We expect that you would take this seriously enough to make yourself available around the same time each week.
* MUST not be broke After we finish recording money will need to be fronted for manufacturing and promotional materials. These costs would be split between all three of us. The excuse "I don't have money for that." is not going to fly.
* MUST be open minded. Must be open to various genres of music. I've provided some samples so you can hear our style of music. If you like it, GREAT! Then it means we're on the same page.
* Must have soul! This is the hardest to describe but it easily the most important. People really need to be able to feel you.
If you think that you might fit the bill then we definitely want to hear from you. Contact us @ info[at]lov73[dot]com
